Larry Greenwalt, We Thank You for 34 Years of Leading Our Team

It is with mixed emotions the Firm announces that Larry Greenwalt will be retiring from the Firm at the end of July. In reaching this decision, Larry concluded that the Firm is well positioned to make his retirement practical at this point in time. This imageconcludes the transition process that started over five years ago, moving the Firm to the fourth generation of management/ownership.

Larry joined the firm August 1, 1980 and took what many believed was a big risk in leaving Arthur Andersen & Co. as a partner to join his friend Denny Gaughan. The Firm has grown substantially over the past 34 years with Larry at the helm. Some of his proudest accomplishments include the creation of industry teams within the firm, establishment of book discussion groups, creation of our Best Practices Manual, leadership development processes, encouragement of the firm and its employees to active community involvement, and joining CPA Associates International which gives us access to significant national and international resources. Throughout his career, Larry has most enjoyed helping others and consulting with clients.

Larry has been committed to an active leadership role within the Indianapolis community. He is past President of Girls, Incorporated, past Chairman of the United Way of Central Indiana, Inc.’s Allocations Committee and member of the United Way Board of Directors, and has served on several special United Way task forces. He served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Indiana Association of United Ways, and Treasurer and Board member of the Indiana Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Larry has also been active in serving the Zionsville community. He is a former board member and past President of the Zionsville Town Board of Trustees, and was a founding member of ZAADA (Zionsville Awareness – Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Inc.), a local community education group, and Miracle on Main Street Part II. He served as Chairman of the Zionsville Capital Facilities Plan Committee, and has been serving for a number of years as President of the Zionsville Public Library Leasing Corporation. In 2008, Larry received the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award from the USA Freedom Corps.

Larry has been committed to an active leadership role within his profession. He is past President of the Indiana CPA Society, has served on its Future Issues Committee and has served as Chairman of the Society’s Management of Accounting Practice, Real Estate, Construction and Development, Auditing, Accounting and Technical Response and Governmental Agencies Committees. He has been an instructor in several of the Society’s continuing professional education courses and has served as an AICPA Council member. Larry was awarded the Indiana CPA Society’s “Civic Achievement Award” recognizing his outstanding leadership in our local business community, and in 2001 was the first ever recipient to be named the “Outstanding CPA in Public Practice.”

Larry served three terms as a member of the Board of Directors of CPA Associates International, Inc. and served two years as Chairman of the Board and is a past Chairman of its Practice Management, Nominating, Strategic Planning, Leadership Development and Professional Issues Committees.

Larry and his wife, Joy, will continue to be a part of our community, but do plan to spend more time in the mountains of North Carolina and on the sands of Siesta Key. Please join our entire team in wishing all the best for both Larry and Joy!
