Jim was born and raised in rural Rochester, Indiana. He graduated in May 1994 from Manchester College with a B.S. in Accounting and in May 1995, with a Master of Accountancy degree. The first two years of his career were spent with a small public accounting firm. In August 1997, he joined Greenwalt as a tax staff accountant. Jim became Director of the Tax Services Group in 2003, and a partner in January 2005. Jim also heads up our Professional Services Group.
Jim works with clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, real estate and professional organizations. Jim specializes in the tax consulting and planning related to flow-through entities, estate planning and management consulting services to his clients. He has presented on professional topics such as Code Section 1031 Deferred Exchanges and Business Entity Structuring Techniques. He enjoys and leads book discussion groups with employees over various leadership/business topics. He is the firm’s liason for Cost Segregation Services, and serves on the Family-Owned Business Committee of CPA Associates International.
Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society, and he is past President for the Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis and continues to serve on the Finance Committee.
